Review of basic telecommunications services

Changes to procedure

  1. With this notice, the Commission modifies the procedure established in Telecom Notice of Consultation 2015-134 (the Notice).

  2. In the Notice, the Commission stated that it would hold a public hearing, beginning on 11 April 2016. The Commission further stated that, following the hearing, all parties may file final submissions on any matter within the scope of the proceeding by 2 May 2016.

  3. In Telecom Notice of Consultation 2015-134-3, the Commission invited interested persons to file an intervention and indicate whether they wished to appear at the hearing. The Commission indicated that the hearing would be expected to last between 10 and 15 days.

  4. Given the number of parties who have requested to appear at the hearing, the Commission revises the date by which all parties may file final submissions. For ease of reference, the relevant paragraph of the Notice is reproduced below, with changes shown in bold italics. 

65. Following the hearing, all parties may file final submissions with the Commission on any matter within the scope of this proceeding by 17 May 2016. Final submissions, including an executive summary, are not to exceed 25 pages.

Online forum

  1. The Commission hereby invites Canadians and other interested persons to participate in an online discussion forum, to be hosted on the Commission’s website at http://consultation.crtc.gc.ca/ throughout the public hearing, from 11 to 29 April 2016. The forum will welcome comments on issues raised at the hearing, as well as on Canadians’ use of telecommunications services more generally. 

  2. Transcripts of the online discussion forum will be available on the Commission’s website at www.crtc.gc.ca following the hearing and will be made part of the record of this proceeding.
